V.P. and Partner John O’Rourke Retires

With bittersweet sentiment, Lanc & Tully Engineering and Surveying, P.C. of Goshen announces the retirement of Partner and Vice President John O’Rourke, P.E., effective the end of August 2024.

John joined Lanc & Tully in 1993, after previous success as a project engineer for another firm. His skills and knowledge proved to be an asset to the company, and he was named partner in 2004. He rose to the rank of Vice President in 2009. Responsible for the preliminary and final design of various municipal and private projects, John focused his work at Lanc & Tully specifically on environmental regulations and their impacts—such as water and wastewater treatment design, drainage analyses, stormwater management systems, wetland disturbance mitigation, underground bulk storage, mining permits and associated plans, Phase 1 environmental assessments, landfill reclamation, and injection well permits.

Municipal public bid projects also benefited from John’s experience. He coordinated the preliminary and final design, technical specifications, and contract documents for diverse projects including wastewater collection systems, sewer pumping stations, water distribution and water booster stations for the City of Beacon, Towns of Hamptonburgh and Newburgh, and the Villages of Monroe, Montgomery, and Walden.

John’s duties also included reviewing subdivision and site plan proposals for code conformance and engineering integrity. Although he is retiring, John plans to continue in a semi-active consulting role with Lanc & Tully, for which the firm is grateful.

With further gratitude for his successful 31-year career with us, we at Lanc & Tully Engineering and Surveying, P.C., wish John well on his retirement and his future endeavors.
